Castle Hotel & Leisure Centre, Macroom wins 'Best Carvery in Munster'
23 September 2013
‘Dan Buckley’s’ Bar at The boutique 4* Castle Hotel in Macroom, Co. Cork, beat off stiff competition and was awarded Best Hotel Carvery in Munster at The Grand Final of The Great Carvery Competition 2013.
The prestigious awards, which are one of the largest in the country, are run on an annual basis by Unilever Food Solutions and are highly sought after by industry professionals. The Great Carvery Competition acknowledges Ireland and Northern Ireland’s love of carvery, recognising the very best pub and hotel carveries that the island has to offer.
Owner, Don Buckley said “The Great Carvery Awards are renowned for recognising and rewarding excellence within the Restaurant and Hospitality industry. It is a lovely surprise and boost for management and staff. It will spur us on in continuing to exceed customer expectations and we will proudly wear our title as the hotel with the best Carvery in Munster.’’
Speaking about the award, Mark McCarthy of Unilever Food Solutions said ‘’It is clear that carvery is something that remains close to the hearts of the nation. At Unilever Food Solutions, we know that times are tough for a lot of pubs and hotels because of the difficult economic climate, but we strongly feel that carvery is something truly unique to Ireland and that we should be showcasing it as one of the Irish foodservice industry’s unique selling points!",
The Castle Hotel is no stranger to awards and was recently awarded ‘Best Customer Service’ Hotel in Munster by the Restaurant Association of Ireland (RAI) in its annual restaurant awards. The hotel also ranked 12th within the top twenty five hotels in Ireland in the “customer service” hotel award category by the world’s largest travel community, Trip Advisor.
