Guide to Choosing Activity Packages for The New Year
09 January 2014
As always at this time of year, people are back to work after the Christmas break and are looking to change their ways and to get active. Our Irish Country Hotels have an array of activity breaks and offers that will get you active, whether it is water-sports, hiking or mountain biking, there is sure to be something to grab your interest.
Our quick guide to choosing the right Activity Break for you will lead you to one of our many hotels that offer specialised activities. Our coastal hotels can offer sea-kayaking, surfing and coasteering while our remote country hotels can offer stunning walking and hiking trails in which to explore.
- Choose what activity you would like to do: we have breaks that include mountain biking, sea kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, coasteering, golfing or even stay in the hotel and avail of the gym!
- Choose what part of the country you would like to go to; is it the wilds of Connemara, the stunning coast of Donegal, or the lush tropical vegetation surrounds of the West Cork
- Choose the time of year that will best suits your activity. Although most of these activities can be undertaken in any weather, some of them are best experienced with the correct conditions! Learning to surf in Donegal would perhaps best be experiencd in glorious sunshine and heat (although never guaranteed) whereas mountain biking can often be best enjoyed when it has been raining but when it is not too warm.
- Prepare yourself! Whatever activity you are choosing, make sure you have the necessary gear as advised or always think ahead to see what you may need. It is always advisable to have some good walking shoes and some wet weather clothes whenever you are going away to a country hotel as once you see the stunning scenery afforded to you, you won't want a little rain to put you off!
