Ireland turns Pink as the Giro d'Italia comes to the Emerald Isle
25 April 2014
May 2014 sees one of the worlds most famous cycling races come to Ireland. The Giro d'Italia will be starting this year in Belfast and making its way down to Dublin during the first 3 stages of the race from May 9th to 11th. As the race makes its way through some of the stages in Northern Ireland and on down to Dublin, the cyclists will be directly passing by two of our wonderful hotels. During stage 2, the race will be taking in much of the Norths famous causeway coastline and will pass through the quaint fishing village of Carnlough where one of our most historic hotels, the Londonderry Arms Hotel is situated in the heart of the village.
Stage 3 on May 11th will see the race make its way from Armagh to Dublin and as it does so it will pass through Castlebellingham and another of our newer member hotels. The stunning Bellingham Castle Hotel is sure to be shown on TV screens as the cyclists pass by as they will be riding right by the main tower gate of this wonderfully restored castle.
The race then continues in Italy as the cyclists will be flown over from Dublin to continue the 2014 Giro d'Italia and finish in Northern Italy.
We look forward to Ireland being able to showcase itself to the sporting world this coming May and we're sure that the Giro will be a spectacular way to show off the very best that Ireland has to offer.
