Hotel & Catering Gold Medal Awards - Nominees for 2017

It's hard to keep up to date with all of the awards shows in the Film & TV world - let alone the Hosptality world! We were very proud to hear of so many of our Irish Country Hotels being nominated for this years Gold Medal Awards - well done to all nominees!
Here are some of our hotels and the category that they are nominated in:
Ireland's Four Star Hotel
This award acknowledges excellence in service and accommodation in a four-star environment. Finalists have demonstrated high class, flawless service in a comfortable, quality establishment, while both meeting and exceeding guest expectations.
Ireland's Three Star Hotel
This award recognises Three Star Hotels which operate well established, quality, functional properties. Finalists have provided quality, style and comfort to its guests. Staff at these establishments have provided personalised service to a high standard.
Ireland's Four Star Hotel Spa Experience
This category recognises four-star hotel spas in Ireland that have provided a high standard service to their guests. Finalists are being recognised for their innovation and uniqueness of treatment offerings and the knowledge and training of the spa therapists.
Ireland's Family Friendly Hotel
Children friendly hotels in Ireland are growing in number and value for money. Finalists in this category have family friendly hotels that suit the needs of both parents and kids. The judges recognised following when selecting the finalists; accessible children’s club, sufficient family rooms available, babysitting services, accommodating travel-cots and a variety of family activities.
Ireland's Wedding Hotel
One of the most important decisions a bride and groom will make is deciding upon the venue for their special day. finalists were chosen for their high-quality personal attention, creative planning and support, including dynamic and unstinting support on the day. Judges reviewed the physical aspects of the function room, Bridal Suite and ceremony space in terms of the whole setting, appearance, backdrop and flexibility of the venue and any innovative or helpful technical features available.
Ireland's Casual Dining Experience
The finalists in this category are all recognised as casual dining establishments that provide notable service and quality food offerings to its patrons. The successful finalists of this category offered a high-quality menu, utilised local produce and offered seasonal menu items. The experience was heightened by knowledgeable staff offering genuine hospitality.

Ireland’s Guest Experience
The finalists in this category are recognised as outstanding venues providing a superior customer experience through the provision of exceptional service. The ambience of the property, the guest service standards, the quality and range of menu offerings and the overall feel of the establishment were all considered by the expert judging panel when choosing the successful finalists of this envious recognition of achievement.
Ireland's Chef of the Year
The finalists in this category have all been given the highest recognition of their performance over the past twelve months. Their innovation, creativity and pursuance to excellence were all considered by our expert panel of judges. The Ireland’s Chef of the Year finalists demonstrated innovative use of lesser cuts of meat, and alternative cooking methods to produce an impeccable menu to please the senses. Their approach, design and execution of their dishes clearly stood out from the crowd and impressed greatly.
Paul O’Gorman, Killeen House Hotel, Co. Kerry
Ireland's Executive Chef of the Year
The expert panel of judges were looking for executive chefs that showcased endurance in the kitchen, attention to detail, organisation, a constant desire to learn and upskill and above all, a humbling love for the culinary arts.
Peter Jackson, Armada Hotel, Co. Clare
Ireland's Menu Provenance Award
This category celebrates restaurants and hotels that utilise a variety of local and seasonal produce all year round. The finalists have all been able to showcase all traceability in their ingredients and took pride in promoting the use of home grown produce.
