Ryan Tubridy presented with “Bed for Life” award
21 October 2016
Celebrating 30 years of Manor House Hotels and Irish Country Hotels
“I can’t think of a better ambassador for the joy of discovering Ireland and all that it has to offer than Ryan Tubridy. Apart from his long held passion for Connemara, any listener to the summertime outside broadcasts of his popular radio show will know his infectious enthusiasm for the people and places that make this country a travel mecca. And now, thanks to our one of a kind “Bed for Life” award, Ryan will always have a place to rest his head at any one of our 55 member properties nationwide.” That’s according to Mary Fitzgerald, Chairperson of Manor House Hotels / Irish Country Hotels which is celebrating 30 years as an organisation of member hotels dedicated to providing Irish and international guests with the very best hospitality including delicious food sourced from local producers www.manorhousehotels.com / www.irishcountryhotels.com. The Bed for Life Award entitles the bearer to stay anytime they wish and enjoy the hospitality of any of the organisation’s distinctive properties.
Ryan Tubridy said: “For anyone with a busy life and lucky enough to be able to do so, escaping to a Manor House Hotel or Irish Country Hotel is literally a pleasure. They offer the type of welcome that draws you back time after time, synchronising brilliantly with whatever mood you find yourself in at a particular time. I’m a big fan so I’m delighted to be given this special “Bed for Life” award. The challenge now will be to find the time to make the most of such a particular honour and in so many locations across the country. What a nice first world problem to have!”
Founded in 1986 by Bord Failte in conjunction with the Irish Tourist Board, the principle objective of Manor House Hotels / Irish Country Hotels is to provide smaller, distinctively welcoming hotels with a vehicle to access the international tourism market.
Starting originally with a handful of hotels, the current membership of 55 hotels on the island of Ireland includes many award winning establishments while several of the properties have unique histories to tell dating back as far as 1700 (for example, Cabra Castle in Co Cavan was built in 1750 while the Dunraven Arms in Co. Limerick was founded established 1792).
A major contributor to their local economies, it’s estimated that the organisation currently employs in excess of 2,750 people.
While both Manor House Hotels and Irish Country Hotels have distinctive personalities they have one shared ambition – to offer guests the very best of Irish hospitality.
